Founded in March 2026 in Chennai. We work across computer vision, generative AI, Agentic AI, and early-stage quantum. Usually inside other teams' products, sometimes inside our own.
Capability built in labs. Useful at home.
Between us we'd spent years working in research and academia. One at ISRO, one at SJCE. We kept watching the same gap: serious AI capability built inside research labs and large enterprises, slow to make its way into the smaller products and teams that could actually use it.
Ithynx is the studio we started to close that distance. Specific tools for specific problems. Computer vision, generative AI, agents, and the early-stage quantum work that's about to matter.

Dr. S. Sumathi
Professor at St. Joseph's College of Engineering, Chennai, where she has spent most of her academic career. Completed her Ph.D. in 2017, then advanced AI work at IIIT Bangalore. Machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI. Has mentored thousands of students, led research initiatives, and built AI-driven solutions for education, recruitment, and decision-making. Founded Ithynx in March 2026 to take that work full-time, with her own team.
Kalpana Arvind
Thirty-eight years at ISRO. Designed satellite electro-optical systems with navigation sensors that flew across ISRO missions, including Mangalyaan and Chandrayaan-1/2/3. Retired as Deputy Director at the Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS). At Ithynx she leads scientific direction and mentors the team. The same discipline that goes into a space mission, applied to problems closer to the ground.

Image and document understanding. Receipts, medical forms, supply-chain catalogs, hand-filled paperwork. The inputs general OCR breaks on.
Large Language Models
Domain-tuned LLM applications. Question-paper generation, knowledge assistants, content tools. Built around a workflow, not a chat box.
Agentic AI
Multi-step agents that actually finish things. Interview screening, research summarization, document workflows.
Quantum
Exploratory work in quantum machine learning and hybrid quantum-classical systems. Early but real.

SHEM
AI kitchen-inventory app. Reads grocery receipts, sorts your kitchen, predicts what you're about to run out of.
MediConnect
A healthcare app connecting patients and care, with AI-assisted records and routing.
Gym Tracker
A mobile fitness app using on-device computer vision for form tracking and routine guidance.
